Introduction

Poonam Dalal Dahiya grew up in Delhi, and she is from a village called Jhajjar district, Haryana. Further, she started her career at a government school in Delhi as a primary teacher. Besides, she has also given many competitive exams like SBI PO, other banks’ PO, SSC Graduate Level, etc. Poonam Dalal IPS Officer is currently serving as the ACP Vigilance Gurgaon.

Career of Poonam Dalal Dahiya

  • To begin with, at the age of 25, she had written the exam SSC in 2006, she had secured the rank 7. She worked as Income tax department for 3 years.
  • Further, in 2009 she wrote UPSC exam at the age of 28. She successfully cleared the exam and received the posting of RPF.
  • Later, in 2010 cleared the UPSC exam again and she received IRPS posting.
  • Then, in the year 2011, she wrote HARYANA State Public Service exam and worked as Deputy Superintendent of Haryana Police.
  • Lastly, in 2015 and at the age of 33 she cleared the UPSC exam AIR 308 with optional subject as Sociology.

After completion of graduation, she appeared for the various bank exam, as we have mentioned above. Further, she regrets that nobody was there to guide her about the UPSC exam as we all know that the age limit is 30 years. However, due to agitations and pattern change in 2011, the government decided to give more attempts to all those given the exam in 2011. Besides, her journey was not easy. She was nine months pregnant when she gave her prelims exam. Further, she wrote the main exam when her child was three months old. Nevertheless, despite all these challenges, she was able to clear the UPSC exam.

Journey of Poonam Dalal Dahiya

As of now, you know how she cleared the UPSC exam. But, the journey was not that easy. In 2007 she married Asim Dahiya, who was employed at the Customs Excise Department in New Delhi In 2011. Her husband always encouraged her to follow her dreams, and she continued her job. Along with that, she was preparing for the exam. Later, she gave her exam and got Railway(RPF), but she didn’t join and again wrote the exam, this time IRPS. Meanwhile, she cleared the  Harayana PSC examination and joined Deputy Superintendent in Haryana Police in 2011. But, this year, she couldn’t clear the UPSC prelims exam.

Later, in 2015, due to some agitations and petitions from candidates affected by pattern change in 2011. Poonam Dalal Dahiya got an opportunity to appear again for the exam. Further, talking about this attempt, it was a great challenge for her with the exam preparations. She was nine months pregnant last the time of the UPSC Prelims exam. Later, while preparing for the main exam, she had also to take care of her son, who was just three months old.
